Winter Roads Funding Approved

Today in Toronto, Minister Greg Rickford announced funding for Ontario’s 2018-2019 winter roads program. Twenty-nine First Nations and the Town of Moosonee will receive $5.7 million in funding to build and maintain 3,160 kilometres of temporary winter roads. This investment will make it easier to bring in essential services and goods like food, medical and construction supplies to the far north.

Nibinamik Road Project
ᓂᐱᓇᒥᐠ ᒥᑲᓇᑫᐃᐧ ᐊᓄᑭᐃᐧᐣ
Nibinamik First Nation is currently in the process of requesting for a road to be constructed to the community. The road will include 3 other communities and be constructed to aid in the mining of the Ring of Fire. The only road access that Nibinamik currently has is during winter through the ice roads.
